Announcement on the Transition to GSTC Standards

The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) published the GSTC Hotel Standard v4.0 and the GSTC Tour Operator Standard v4.0 on December 30, 2025.

With this update,

• GSTC Industry Standard v3.0 has been divided into two separate standards (Hotel and Tour Operator)
• and it is planned to shift the audit approach from a criteria-based structure to an indicator-based structure.

For the transition to the new standards, a three-year transition period is foreseen until December 30, 2028.

In order to support a smooth and consistent transition to the revised standards, GSTC has published the Transition Planning Guidelines for the GSTC Hotel and Tour Operator Standards.
