
According to the announcement by the Türk Akreditasyon Kurumu (TÜRKAK), the ISO/IEC 17020:2026 revision, which is the core reference standard for inspection bodies accreditation, has been officially published.
With the new version, the requirements for impartiality, independence, and technical competence of inspection bodies have been updated, with greater emphasis on risk-based approach and information management systems. These changes aim to ensure more reliable, transparent, and internationally harmonized inspection activities.
In this context, ISO/IEC 17020:2026 introduces significant updates in terms of inspection body accreditation, conformity assessment services , inspection and audit processes, quality management system requirements , and risk-based inspection methodology.
With the revision, ISO 17020 accreditation criteria, inspection body competence requirements, technical conformity assessment , and international accreditation compliance have been further strengthened within a more integrated framework.
